St. Lucie County Jail Roster Overview

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office runs the county jail and its inmate records. The online roster lives on the jail's own subdomain, and the Sheriff links to it from the official Inmate Lookup page. That makes it the authoritative custody search for the county jail. The search displays current inmates and people released within the past five days. There is no account to create and no fee to pay. Booking data is entered after intake, so a very new arrest may not appear right away.

The roster has limits worth knowing up front. It does not cover people sentenced to Florida state prison, and it does not cover federal or immigration detainees. A sentenced felon moves to the Florida Department of Corrections locator. A federal inmate appears in the Bureau of Prisons locator. An immigration detainee shows up in the ICE system. The county roster also is not a long-term archive, so old bookings drop off rather than stay searchable.

How to Use the St. Lucie County Inmate Roster

The roster is simple by design. Open the jail inmate search form or reach it through the Sheriff's Inmate Lookup page. You need a name, and a partial name is fine. Spelling trouble is common, so the wildcard trick below often does the work.

1. Open the jail inmate search form.
2. Type a partial last name, or a partial first name. You do not need both.
3. To browse the full list, type a percent sign in the Last Name field.
4. Click Search and scan the results table.
5. Click a name to open the profile for charges, bond, and housing.

If a search returns nothing, try fewer letters or the wildcard. Check the release report in case the person already left. Wait and search again if the booking is brand new. Call the jail if the roster still comes up empty.

St. Lucie County Roster Search Fields

The public form keeps the fields to a minimum. There is no booking-number box, no date-of-birth box, and no facility or charge filter. The Last Name field holds the most useful feature: a percent sign there lists every inmate currently shown, which is the Sheriff's own instruction for browsing the roster.

Note: The form does not let you search by inmate ID, even though the ID appears on the results table and inside the profile web address.

What St. Lucie County Search Results Show

A name search returns a table, not a single record. Each row shows the person's name, date of birth, age, inmate ID, booking date, and release date. A blank release field means the person is still in custody. A timestamp means they were released within the five-day window. You can sort the list by name, booking date, or release date, with ascending and descending controls. A full-list browse using the wildcard returned more than 1,100 rows on a recent check, so the roster genuinely scans the whole current count.

The search results table lists names, dates of birth, ages, inmate IDs, and booking and release dates with sort controls.

From that table you click a single name to open the full profile, which carries the charge, bond, and housing detail the list view leaves out.

What a St. Lucie County Inmate Profile Shows

The profile is the heart of the inmate record. It is custody-centered, which means it tells you who holds the person and on what booking offenses, but not the full court history. It shows a booking photo for someone in custody at the time you search. It does not show statute numbers, the court case number, or court dates. Treat the listed offenses as booking charges, not convictions.

The profile shows charge status, such as Pending, but it will not tell you whether a bond was posted, whether a case was dismissed, or why someone was released. Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates

The county roster covers one slice of custody. Sentenced felons move to the Florida DOC offender search, which uses a DC number rather than a county inmate ID. Federal inmates appear in the Bureau of Prisons locator. Immigration detainees show up in the ICE detainee locator, which excludes anyone under 18. The Fort Pierce Community Release Center, a state work-release site in the county, is searched through Florida DOC, not the Sheriff's roster.

Phone, In-Person, and Records Request Channels

The online roster is not the only way to confirm custody. When the roster fails, several official channels back it up. Use them in order, starting with the fastest.

• Call the St. Lucie County Jail at 772-462-3450 when a booking is too new to appear online.
• Check the five-day release report if the person recently left custody.
• File a Sheriff's public-records request through the JustFOIA portal for booking records not posted online.
• Use Florida VINELink to set up custody-status notifications.
• Visit the jail in person at 900 N Rock Road, but confirm the public counter process before you travel.

Booking Process in St. Lucie County

Booking starts when an arresting agency brings a person to the jail on North Rock Road. The arresting agency may be the Sheriff's Office, Port St. Lucie Police, Fort Pierce Police, or a state officer. Intake records the person's identifying details and creates the inmate ID. Staff log the arresting agency, booking date and time, and housing. They list booking offenses, charge status, and bond amounts when those are set. Classification then assigns a security level and housing, a system the jail has used since 2005.

The court side begins soon after. Under Florida procedure, a person not otherwise released is usually taken before a judge within about 24 hours for a first appearance. At that hearing the court reviews probable cause, advises the person of the charges, addresses counsel, and sets or reviews bond and release conditions. Booking charges can differ from the charges a prosecutor later files, which is why custody records and court records do not always match.

Visitation Hours and Rules

St. Lucie runs video visitation, and the schedule is keyed to housing area, not one shared block. Visits must be scheduled in advance, no later than 11 p.m. for the next day, and can be booked from one to fourteen days out. Each inmate gets two free hours per week. After that, or for remote visits, the rate is 17 cents per minute and is subject to change. Visitors show photo ID, arrive about 15 minutes early, and keep phones out of the visitation area.

Professional and attorney visits work differently and are handled through Zoom or Webex with a registration form. No minors are allowed in the visitation area at this time.

How to Contact a St. Lucie County Inmate

Personal mail and legal mail go to two different addresses, and mixing them up causes delays. Personal mail moved to digital handling in December 2023 and goes to a Smart Communications post office box in Seminole, Florida. Privileged legal mail still goes to the jail street address, where a deputy opens and copies it in front of the inmate. Letters, photos, and drawings are allowed in personal mail, and each piece needs the inmate's full name and ID.

Commissary and Inmate Funds

Money deposited for an inmate does not all become spending money. Funds are receipted into the inmate's account on entry. Deposits first cover the booking fee. After that, half of the deposit goes toward outstanding debt such as daily subsistence fees. What remains is available for canteen. Deposits use TouchPay, with facility locator number 234901, by kiosk, phone at 866-232-1899, or online. A convenience fee applies. Canteen runs through a private contractor, with weekly deliveries from Tuesday morning through Friday evening, and gift items can be sent through iCare.

Account questions go to the inmate account provider, Aramark, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 772-462-3490. The five-day release window also matters here, because mail and deposits will not reach someone who has already left custody.
